So, thought it was about time for an update. There’s not
been a huge amount changed since the last one. I thought I’d include a picture
of the foundations of the new building, it’s pretty big as you can see.
Panto rehearsals continue apace, I’m still a bit behind on
the line learning front still, but it’s coming along slowly. We went to a
concert on Wednesday, a local band called Sauti Sol supporting Ladysmith Black Mambazo. Sauti Sol were
quite good fun, but Ladysmith are a bit of a one trick pony, the highlight was
Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes, minus Paul Simon of course.
On the work front, we’re going to start setting up a trial
tank to keep some wild caught seahorses in tomorrow. It’ll take a while to
cycle the nutrient balances and start up food production, but we could
conceivably have some actual live seahorses in about a month. The food supply
is going to be pretty tricky, they won’t eat anything other than live food, so
we can’t exactly spoon feed them normal fish food. The primary food’s going to be sea monkeys (Artemiasalina or brine
shrimp), but we’re looking at a couple of other options to supplement the diet,
as artemia aren’t the most nutritious of things. In fact we’ll have to enrich
them by soaking them in a mix of nutrients before feeding them to the
seahorses.
Hopefully there’ll be a bit more to stick up here in the
next few weeks as we get going on the seahorse front.
